Prior to coming to IT Sligo Jamie was a research fellow at Loughborough University London working on the Multimodal Imitation Learning in MultI-Agent Environments (MIMIc) project funded by the EPSRC. He holds a PhD, for which he was awarded the Wolfson studentship by Loughborough University, an M.Sc. in digital technologies, an M.Sc. in Bioengineering, a B.Eng. in Mechatronics, and a B.Tech. in Process Instrumentation. His research interests are sensor data fusion, free space detection, human activity recognition, social scene understanding, modeling of multi-agent systems with application to intelligent mobility, path planning and sports analytics. Thomas Campell (@KUKA Robotics) Thomas is a Senior Applications Engineer for KUKA Robotic. He studied in UCD Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. His time in UCD gave him his first exposure to robotic automation when he performed his final year project researching robotic 3D printing using a recently purchased KUKA robot. This work led him to joining KUKA in 2017. In his role he provides application and general technical support for our Irish install base. This involves pre-sale concept of idea and proof of principle, robot programming and system installation, and after sale support and service. In addition he also delivers robotic programming training courses out of the KUKA College in Dundalk. At KUKA Thomas gained great insight into manufacturing settings across industries such as Biomedical Device, Tier 1 Automotive, Aerospace and Consumer Goods. Within these sectors he has worked on robotic applications ranging from welding and machine tending to product handling quality inspection. Louise O'Gorman (@ATU Sligo) Louise is the Advance Centre Manager based in ATU, Sligo. She holds a degree in Electronic Engineering and a Masters in Computing. Louise spent more than fifteen years in industry as a telecoms engineer and a product development specialist before joining ATU Sligo as a lecturer in electronic, mechatronic and mechanical engineering programmes. Her research interests include Industrial Internet of Things and remote laboratories for engineering education. Louise was the programme coordinator for the suite of electronic Engineering programmes before joining the Advance Centre in 2021. Dr.Barry Twomey (@Advance Centre) Dr. Barry Twomey has been the Centre Director for the Advance Centre since May 2021. He completed his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering UCD in 2004, and subsequently his PhD in the same department in 2009. Including his PhD, he has over 17 years experience in new material processing techniques, across a wide range of sectors and company types. It is the implementation of new and novel techniques that furthered his interest in manufacturing transformation, and in particular, the integration and use of new, digital technologies within existing process lines. Through the Advance Centre for Professional Learning and the modular, accredited, learning approach, he hopes to enable the digital transformation for individuals and organisations across multiple industries.
